Basically there is a cultural studies focus in this class, but students can also write term papers on the language used in the novel as well as on problems of transla¬tion. Students can thus get either a kulturwiss. or sprach- / translationswiss. Schein. Texts: J. G. Lockhart, Adam Blair, Edinburgh: The Saltire Society 2007 (11822). This edition is available for free to students taking part in this class. (Arrange this with Frau Cech!) The other text is James Hogg, Confessions of a Justified Sinner, Oxford Classics edition 2010 (11824), edited by Ian Duncan (one of the speakers at the Scotland conference in Germers¬heim in October 2013). Cf. the comments on this text by readers here http://www.amazon.de/Private-Memoirs-Confessions-Justified-Classics/dp/0199217955/ref=sr_1_2?s=books-intl-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1358109267&sr=1-2.
